Sticky Note Drawing Activity - John Kenn Mortensen Inspired

This set of lessons is a 1-2 week KS3 (11-14) plan on the artist John Kenn Mortensen, as part of the theme ‘Creatures and Characters.’ Originally taught over 2 x 50 minute lessons, it could easily be shortened to one lesson with additional homework. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Lesson 1 Students are required to discuss what types of nightmares scare children and then devise a scene by sketching out characters and ideas. Lesson 2 Create a nightmare scene, in the style of Mortensen, on to a post-it-note / sticky note. You could also draw a post-it-note sized shape in to sketch books, but I found that students really loved drawing on to sticky notes. Equipment needed: post it’s, pencil, black biro or fine liner. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Each lesson starts with an introduction slide to add your own information about what was previously completed and the content of todays lesson, as well as blank learning objectives section on each slide. This task could be turned in to a homework if only one lesson is spent on designing. 11 Slide Powerpoint with a starter and plenary activity. Adaptable slides for you to add your own learning objectives, different images etc. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4.1.24 This lesson has been updated to include starter activity print outs and clearer instructions on some of the slides +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This lesson plan is part of a bundle that can be purchased on the theme ‘Creatures and Characters’ covering three terms worth of projects. All lessons have the same powerpoint theme for continuity and total the equivalent of 3 half terms worth of lessons. Art Themed Christmas Bauble Activity Bundle

3 Resources
This Christmas Bauble bundle resource is aimed at KS3 (11-14) art students but it could be used with upper KS2 too! It’s a great activity for group collaboration and to decorate your school Christmas tree as a gift from the art department. As this is a 3D based task to create a triskele bauble, it might also be useful in a DT lesson or as an after school activity. Buy as a bundle and have a Christmas activity that can used and adapted year after year. Whilst there aren’t any teaching slides with this worksheet, the task would definitely fill a 50 minute lesson or longer if students designed their own patterns. This is a printable PDF download that consists of: 16 different Picasso themed bauble construction sheets 12 different Pop Art themed construction sheets 1 Blank bauble construction sheet so that students can design their own themed bauble - also includes Christmas themed print outs and black and white print outs for colouring 3 Complete set of Instructions aimed at each individual design Materials required: Thick paper or card Glue / sellotape Scissors String / hooks This is based on a lesson I designed in 2020 where I asked students to design and create a Picasso Christmas bauble. The 2D baubles were stuck to green paper and then used to construct a tree wall. I have updated this for 2023 to a 3D version. This activity can be purcased individually: Picasso Bauble Pop Art Bauble Blank Triskele Bauble If you find my resources useful, then please leave me some feedback.

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Art & Design Unit 20 Exploring Digital Photography template. (2012)

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Art & Design Unit 20 Exploring Digital Photography template. (2012 Series) This powerpoint is an annotated workbook that teachers can use to develop their unit 20 course content or for students to use as a workbook to create their unit 20 coursework. The powerpoint consists of 51 slides taking students through all the key components of what is needed to meet the assessment criteria of this unit. All of the images within the powerpoint are stock images that try to represent the style of image that is required by the student where ever possible. Each section prompts the student to analyse and use their own images to meet course objectives. Use alongside the OCR assessment and grading criteria so that students have a clear idea of how to work towards pass, merit or distinction. This powerpoint is fully editable and I would encourage editing of text and stock images to ensure indivduality of slide layout and theme. Using the ‘designer’ feature within powerpoint will ensure consistancy of theme.
